Creamy Almond Milk
Have you ever checked what’s the amount of almonds that are actually in store-bought almond milk? It’s close to nothing! You can see the percentage in the ingredient list. In most nut kinds of milk, it will vary between 5-7 %. Why buy expensive water with a bit of nut if you can easily make your own?
Here is an easy-to-make recipe of super delicious almond milk (you can change it to any other nuts of your choice).
Ingredients:
- 250 grams almonds
- 1 liter of water
- pinch of salt
- 1 or more pitted dates (optional)
To milk you will need:
- Blender
- Big bowl
- Nut milk bag
- Airtight container like a jar
Wash and soak almonds for about 8-12 hours (overnight). Give nuts an extra rise before dropping them into a blender jug. Add water, salt, and dates. Blend. Meanwhile, prepare a big/wide bowl and a nut-milk bag.
Pour liquid from the blender into the bag and squeezed it tight over the bowl. Voila, You’re milking it! Keep the milk in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
Tip
You can use cheesecloth instead of a nut milk bag. If you like a bit more flavor try adding cinnamon or vanilla. Nothing goes to waste. Keep the pulp in the refrigerator as it can be used for baking desserts, thickening blended soups, and supercharging a porridge or a smoothie. Possibilities are endless.
